A Windows Phone 7 Mango-powered version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 could be on the cards, reports suggest, as Sammy looks to leverage the brand power of its fastest-selling handset ever.

Clues that the smartphone could be in the works were discovered by the keen-eyed Microsoft mobile mavens at Windows Mobile Power User (WMPU), who chanced on a gadget bearing the product number SGH-i937 while trawling through the Bluetooth Special Interest Group site.

The number is close to Android Galaxy S2 we know and love, which was given the code SGH-i927 - suggesting that what we're looking at could be a successor to that phone.

But more intriguingly still, the Bluetooth profile detailed on the page created for the mystery mobile matches those of Windows Phone 7 Mango kits exactly. That's prompted WMPU to predict that the Galaxy range could be about to get its first WP7 member.

Alas, the listing doesn’t yield any other clues. Or indeed any additional specs for us to speculate any further.

However, assuming it is a Mango-totin’ smartie, we could be looking at a launch date of around September, when you’re also likely to see Mango mobiles from Nokia and HTC.
