Samsung has lifted the lid on a prototype transparent tablet featuring a radical flexible display, giving tech fans a tantalising glimpse at the future of its Galaxy Tab range of Android slates.

A video posted online and picked up by Venture Beat’s Jolie O'Dell shows the as yet unnamed concept slate being contorted into some mind-bending new shapes by its imaginary owner, with Sammy’s hallmark Super AMOLED screen tech present and correct to ensure there’s no compromise on display clarity.

Science fiction, you’re thinking? Not necessarily. Although transparent tablets might be a way off yet, it’s a matter of record that Sammy has thrown some serious investment behind bendy display technology in recent years.

What’s more, if the company’s vice president of investor relations Robert Yi is to believed, they’re planning to introduce rubbery displays as early as 2012. According to Yi, however, it’s most likely to feature on smartphones initially before making its way to tablets.
