Samsung Galaxy S2 owners can pencil in an update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean very soon, reports suggest, as Samsung continues to support its former flagship smartphone.
According to sources familiar with matters at the phone-maker cited by SamMobile, a version of the software for the Galaxy S2 is now “almost ready” - suggesting that for owners of unlocked editions of the phone at least the wait may almost be over.
Those of you who bought a network-branded Galaxy S2 on a pay monthly contract will, however, likely be kicking your heels a bit longer while your carrier carries out compatibility tests with the new software to ensure it plays nice with its proprietary services.
As well as performance enhancements, the new version of the OS also includes some minor but still welcome new features such as the option to expand notifications with a single finger scroll.
The update could be the last new platform iteration that Samsung makes available for the Galaxy S2, which landed way back in May 2011.
