A fresh image of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has surfaced online, ahead of its anticipated appearance at Mobile World Congress (MWC) next month.

Picked up by French Android-fanciers Frandroid, the photo shows Samsung’s tablet next to its phablet forerunner the Galaxy Note 2. Very much in evidence in the snap is the S-Pen stylus, seemingly confirming that support for the peripheral will be present and correct.

The leaked photo is the second image of the Note 8.0 to make its way on the interwebs in the last week, after Sam Mobile sourced a blurrycam snap which listed a spec sheet for the device.

Assuming this is the real deal, Samsung’s next slate contender will pack an an eight-inch 1280 x 800 screen, a 1.6GHz quad core processor and 16GB of onboard storage.

A five-megapixel rear-mounted camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing snapper for video calls will also be on board, it seems, as will 2GB of RAM, a microSD slot and Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).

Samsung's decision to adopt the Note brand and ditch the older Tab moniker for its tablets comes after its two Note phablets massively outsold the earlier Tab efforts, which were hamstrung by smartphone-optimised versions of Android and a lack of processing power and tablet-optimised apps to choose from.
