The HTC Hero has followed its success at the Stuff magazine awards by being named Phone of the Year by rival technology journal T3.
According to the magazine, 135,000 readers voted the Hero the year’s best phone to ensure that it saw off strong challenges from the likes of the iPhone 3G S and Nokia N97.
T3 attributed the handset’s popularity to the fact that it “seems to do everything well, without fuss” which enabled it to score highly with the magazine's “discerning” and technology-savvy readers.
The award is the second high-profile plaudit garnered by the Android-powered Hero in recent weeks, after Stuff magazine named it Gadget of the Year at its annual Gadget Awards earlier this month.
Apple did not go home empty handed from T3's ceremony, however, with the iPhone 3G S picking up both the Commuter Gadget of the Year and the Gadget You Can’t Live Without.
Other big winners included the Google’s Android mobile operating system, which was named Launch of the Year, and Sony which picked up an award for its eco-friendly Bravia TV range.
