3 has begun taking pre-orders for the HTC Desire HD, the successor to the massive-selling Desire.
The £35 per month contract over two years gets you a free phone, plus 500 call minutes and 5,000 3-to-3 minutes per month, plus 5,000 texts and 1GB of mobile Internet use.
Arguably the year’s most anticipated smartphone, the Desire HD runs the latest 2.2 version of Google’s Android operating system, AKA Froyo, and packs an eight-megapixel camera with autofocus and high-definition video recording.
Other standout specs include a large 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 1Ghz processor for speedy, super-slick multi-tasking, 1.5GB of internal memory for storing music, apps and photos and HTC’s much-lauded Sense user interface.
As with all Android mobiles, Desire HD owners also get to choose from ten of thousands of free and paid-for apps available for download from the Android Market online software store.
The original Desire was recently named phone of the year by gadget Bible T3.
