Windows Phone 7 goes Hollywood with films from Paramount

Hollywood studio Paramount Digital Entertainment has announced that will be releasing ten feature-length films from its catalogue to Windows Phone 7, complete with extras and interactive content.

Comedy hits such as School of Rock and Zoolander will be the first to hit the Windows Marketplace and will come with bonus content that range from music videos to video diaries.

Additionally, the movies will be loaded up with trivia created by the makers of Scene It for consoles, to challenge your movie knowhow.

Geremie Camara, Vice President of Product Development for Paramount said: "Through our relationship with Microsoft, we're able to provide consumers new, enhanced ways to enjoy movies from anywhere on Windows Phone 7.

"Using Silverlight technology and adding interactive and social networking features, our enhanced movie apps transform the movie viewing experience into a true entertainment experience.”

Other titles in the collection include Waiting for Superman, and GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra and more to be revealed later.

Todd Brix, senior director of Windows Phone Marketplace, said: "Windows Phone 7 is backed by a rich developer ecosystem that is creating a variety of quality apps and games, like Paramount Entertainment's movie apps, that take advantage of the phone's unique features and design.

"We're proud to have these Paramount titles that offer unique experiences for consumers exclusively available on Windows Phone 7 this holiday season."

Unfortunately the flicks are only for US and Canada for now, but hopefully Microsoft won’t turn a blind eye to UK punters in the market for some quality Christmas entertainment on their new WP7 handsets.
