The first official images of the HTC Explorer have cropped up online, revealing a Samsung Galaxy Ace-esque kit with pay-as-you-go appeal.
Unearthed by Pocket Now, the photos confirm the Explorer will be a compact and bijou number with a rubberised exterior for an extra layer of protection from the butter-fingered klutzes among us.
Under the hood, the handset previously informally dubbed the Pico by techwatchers, is purportedly rocking Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with what some are claiming is a less resource-hungry take on HTC’s Sense custom skin slathered over the top.
Completing the package is a less-than-mighty 600MHz processor, a five megapixel camera and a 3.2-inch HVGA display.
There’s no word on a UK release and pricing right now. But given the handset’s potential as a PAYG, sub-£200 stocking filler for teens, we’d be staggered if it didn’t drop in time for the seasonal rush. Either way, it's almost certain we'll know more after HTC's October 6th show and tell.
