Photos purportedly showing two new Nokia Lumia smartphones running the soon-to-debut Windows Phone 8 operating system have leaked online ahead of schedule.
Uploaded by mysterious Twitter user ‘@evleaks’, the snaps give us an early glimpse of the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820, due to be officially unveiled this Wednesday at a joint Microsoft-Nokia event in New York.
According to the tweets, the Lumia 920 will be home to a 4.5-inch display, while the 820 will pack a 4.3-inch panel. We’re guessing these are the same ‘Arrow’ and ‘Phi’ handsets that we revealed last week.
What’s perhaps most interesting about the photos is the impressive array of colourways the handsets will be available in. We also get a sneak peek of what appears to be a wireless charging pad for the Lumia 920, also available in matching colour options. There’s no indication if there’ll be one for the 820, too.
Little else is known about the handsets other than they are rumoured to sport multi-core processors, Near Field Communication (NFC) support, polycarbonate casing and ‘curved’ glass displays.
There’s also a good chance that at least the Lumia 920 will come with a microSD slot and possibly a native 720p resolution for its screen.
The handsets will essentially represent the Nokia’s challenge to the iPhone 5, also expected to be announced this month. However, only time will tell if they can hold a candle to the competition, as we get ever closer to the holiday rush.
