uSwitch Broadband and Mobile Awards 2017: nominations announced

Boradband and Mobile awards 2017

Well, the nominations have been announced, the invites have been sent out and there is champaigne on standby. Yes, the 2017 uSwitch Mobile and Broadband Awards are nearly upon us.

For the first time in uSwitch history, we’ve combined the Mobile and Broadband Awards to create one epic night of celebration for the best the telecoms industry has had to offer in the last year.

So, what are the awards and who’s nominated? Well, as ever we’ve invited representatives from all of the major phone manufacturers and network providers.

Heading up this year’s awards with the most nominations for our mobile categories are Three, O2 and Tesco Mobile. Meanwhile, Giffgaff, who cleaned up at last year’s awards will be hoping to retain the coveted title of Network of the Year.

Our network awards also include categories for customer service, roaming, network speed and best SIM-only provider.

Smartphone giants Apple will be up against Google, Huawei and OnePlus for Phone Manufacturer of the Year and Mobile Phone of the Year.

We’re also honouring smartphone retailers and resellers, with Carphone Warehouse, Mobile Phones Direct, and The Smartphone Company all up for best Mobile Reseller of the Year.

To celebrate the crossover with broadband, we’ve also added some exciting new telecoms categories, including Technology Innovation of the Year, which will see the Samsung Note 7 iris scanner pitted against LG’s G5 modular handset, and the Sky Q smart TV box.

uSwitch Mobile and Broadband Award winners are determined by customer satisfaction research, verdicts from our industry judging panel and network speed data provided by RootMetrics.

Our judging panel includes technology experts and respected journalists from the BBC, the Telegraph and CNET.

Will Apple be beaten by one of the newer smartphone brands? Will Giffgaff clean up at the awards once again? Or will they be knocked off the top spot by another network? We’ll have to wait until February to find out.
