Mobile World Congress is just days away. The annual mobile industry gathering in Barcelona is the go–to event for the biggest names in tech looking to make a splash and outdo their rivals with stellar new products.
But with so much new kit rumoured, it can be somewhat overwhelming. Here are the five things we can’t wait to see in Catalonia next week.
1) Samsung Galaxy S9
Samsung’s Galaxy S9 is unlikely to offer a major design change compared with last year’s Galaxy S8. However, there are plenty of refinements and tweaks to make it one of the best things on show at MWC 2018.
The display is expected to cover more space on the front of the handset, with slimmer bezels the result. The camera is mooted to feature variable aperture tech, usually found in standalone cameras, while updated facial scanning smarts and Android 8.1 will make it a must–have for Android fans.

2) Samsung Galaxy S9+
Of course, the Galaxy S9 won’t be Samsung’s only big draw at MWC 2018. Its larger Galaxy S9+ is arguably even more exciting.
With a bigger screen, expected to top six inches, the S9+ is also due to feature a dual-lens camera, aping last year’s Galaxy Note 8. Under the hood its specs are set to be broadly similar to the S9.
This and the S9 will be unveiled on Sunday 25th February at 12 noon, with an on sale date expected in mid-March.

3) Nokia 3310 (4G)
HMD, the owners of the Nokia smartphone brand, grabbed all the plaudits at MWC last year with a rebooted version of the 3310, one of the most iconic phones ever made.
This year it’s looking to do the same again, with plans to offer a 4G version of the 3310 here in Europe. HMD has already revealed the device in China.
It’s expected to cost around £59.99 and offer snappy web access, albeit on a small screen, giving it a modern edge alongside serious battery life.
4) Huawei P11/P20
Huawei’s P11 (or P20 according to some rumours) is nailed on for a release at some point in the next month or so.
The P10 was one of our favourite phones of 2017, packing in killer features in a device that stood out from the Android crowd. The P11 is believed to have a bezel design, like Apple’s iPhone X, something Google’s next version of Android is known to support, as well as a triple-lens camera setup.
Our only concern is that it might not appear in Barcelona, with Huawei planning its own event for 27th March.

5) Sony’s new high–end handset
Sony’s XZ Premium got short shrift from some critics. And while the Japanese giant’s phones aren’t bestsellers, their look and design remains among the best in the business…
A new version of the XZ Premium should be on show in Barcelona, featuring top–end camera tech and other refinements and we can’t wait to try it.
