T-Mobile has launched a new e-mail service that lets users access their messages directly from their handset.
The service is priced at £3.50 per month, with customers entitled to upload up to five e-mail accounts which can be designated separate inboxes.
By sending messages directly to the handset, the Instant Email service means that users do not have to log onto the internet to read them.
Initially the service will be available solely on Nokia handsets which run on the Symbian operating system, but plans are in place to roll out the service to other manufacturers’ handsets in months to come.
Richard Warmsely, head of internet and entertainment at T-Mobile, said: “Mobile email is nothing new for business customers, but we think everyone should have easy access to their inbox on the phone of their choice.
“All our customers want to be up to date and involved with what’s going on and receiving and sending emails straight to your phone just makes life a little easier.”
Instant Email also allows users to update and back up phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
