The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone has racked up 13 million sales since its release in 2007, according to a company executive.
The 5310 was a flagship handset for Nokia and was the first of its phones to be compatible with its music download service, Comes With Music.
The 5310's sales make it one of Nokia’s best-performing mobile phones of recent years as it looks to fight off the challenge of rivals Apple and HTC, both of which have captured some of the company’s market share.
More recently, Nokia has pinned its hopes on the successor to the 5310, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.
This year Nokia is rumoured to be planning to release at least another three mobile phones with touchscreen user interfaces, as this method of operating a handset increasingly becomes the industry standard.
Release dates, price points and carriers for the forthcoming Nokia touchscreen phones have yet to be confirmed.
