The much anticipated HTC Desire HD has been priced on T-Mobile at £40 per month with a free handset.
The carrier has yet to reveal monthly allowances for the £40 tariff, but did disclose that the first batches of the handset will be shipping to pre-order customers from October.
T-Mobile’s premium price point flies in the face of a pledge from HTC Executive Director Jon French who said that it would be on offer for a maximum of £35 per month.
After months of speculation, the Desire HD and its sister phone the Desire Z finally officially broke cover yesterday at a London press event.
Features of the handset include an eight-megapixel camera with high definition video recording and an expansive 4.3-inch touchscreen display.
The Desire Z offers a full, physical QWERTY keyboard for text entry, a five-megapixel camera with flash and autofocus, HD video recording and 3.7-inch touchscreen.
Both handsets run Android 2.2 out of the box and showcase HTC’s updated Sense user interface, which adds a host of new features to what is by common consent the best Android skin around.
