A hitherto unknown Android powered HTC smartphone has cropped up in a games developer’s product listings, as the company gears up for a fresh assault on the handset market in 2010.
The HTC Scorpion appeared on Gameloft’s list of devices compatible with its forthcoming title Let’s Golf 2 HD, which was uncovered by Italian tech site AndrodHDblogit.
According to our Italian friends, we can look forward to a device packing a super powerful 1.5GHz processor (current high-end smarties typically feature 1Ghz) and the latest version of Google’s Android operating system.
News of the leak comes amid rumours that HTC is set to bring the first-ever 3D Android phone to market next year According to insiders, we could even get our first glimpse of said device in February at the Mobile World Conference 2011 tech expo.
Meanwhile, HTC exec Peter Chou disclosed plans today for a tablet to launch in 2011 as well as its first phones supporting long term evolution (4G) technology.
