The HTC Wildfire S is now available to pre-order through a number of online vendors and will officially go on sale in the UK in mid-May, it has been confirmed.
Both Amazon UK and Play.com are currently offering unlocked version of the Wildfire S on pre-order for £229.99 and are expected to start shipping on May 13th.
Clove.co.uk, meanwhile, is selling HTC's smartie for a slightly higher outlay of £238.00 (inc. VAT). Expansys is still keeping pricing details close to its chest but is not expected to charge more than £240.
That said, if you’re looking to avoid paying the one-off cost altogether, nearly all the major networks, including Vodafone, Orange and 3, have confirmed they will be offering the handset on a variety of contract plans.
Unveiled alongside its bigger, more powerful cousins, the Desire S and the Incredible S at the Mobile World Congress in February, the Wildfire S is similar to the original Wildfire in almost every aspect, but packs a higher resolution 3.2-inch touchscreen, a slightly meatier 600MHz processor, a five-megapixel snapper with autofocus and LED flash, plus an array of connectivity options such as Wi-Fi (b/g/n) with DLNA support, Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB.
It also runs the latest, tastiest smartphone-optimised iteration of Android yet, Gingerbread, out of the box, and is layered with the newly revamped Sense 3.0 user interface.
Stay tuned for further pricing and announcement details for the Wildfire S in the coming weeks.
