LG Optimus 2X owners are getting a less than high-end smartphone experience, user complaints suggest, amid claims of persistent glitches with the dual core processor-packing handset.
According to testimonies from users posted on the XDA developers forum and a report on trusttedreviews.com, the handset is prone to freezing and frequently fails to respond to touch inputs. Unbidden reboots are apparently also in evidence.
In response, Optimus 2X adopters have launched an online petition urging LG to take action. For its part, LG has acknowledged the problem exists and has apologised, but has yet to expound on how it plans to remedy things.
Assuming the problem is as widespread as the web storm suggests, it’s a real blow for LG which had pinned its hopes on the Android powered Optimus 2X and Optimus 3D as the handsets that would put it back on track in the smartphone race after a recent collapse in market share.
It’s also likely to be a serious cause for concern for Google, which is widely thought to have enlisted LG to manufacture the mooted third Google branded Android phone on its behalf.
