Evidence is mounting that Apple’s new-found colour fixation will soon spread to iPads, after fresh photos appeared showing rear panels for the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 in gold.
Sourced by Chinese site CTechCN, the images, which come fairly hard on the heels of similar snaps from don of leaks Sonny Dickson, add weight to rumours that Apple will offer its next-generation tablets in the same silver-white, graphite grey and gold shades as the iPhone 5s.
Previously, iPads have been available solely in none-more-black, erm, black or white. Given that the gold iPhone 5s is the most popular colourway by some distance, it’s pretty much given that the blingy hue would be a similarly huge hit for tablets.
Apple is expected to drop a new tablet or tablets on October 22nd, amid speculation that this year will mark the point at which the standard iPad and its smaller stablemate converge.
That’s an impression corroborated by the new images, which show the iPad 5’s back plate sporting more rounded edges that bring it in line with the iPad mini.
Leaked snaps of the iPad 5’s front panel, meanwhile, show a smaller bezel around the screen, once again aping the iPad mini and enabling Apple to shrink the tablet’s overall dimensions while retaining the same size screen.
Both the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 are rumoured to pack eight-megapixel cameras, compared with five megapixels right now.
