Motorola’s new Moto G handset has been officially unveiled. The Google-owned mobile maker has already put the device up for sale, with a budget price that looks set to shake up the entire industry.
Motorola has slapped the phone with a SIM-free price tag of just £159.99 for the 16GB model, although that drops to just £134.95 for the 8GB edition. You can snag it even cheaper on pay as you go deals from Phones4U, with prices starting at just £99.95. What’s more, contracts start at only £11 a month.
The device itself has an impressive spec sheet considering the super low price. It has a 4.5-inch HD Ready screen, packs Android Jelly Bean (with Android KitKat update promised for January), a quad core processor and five megapixel camera.
There’s no 4G, but with HSPA+, you’ve got the next best thing. The colourful design is also a winner, for those who want their phone to look the part as well as perform brilliantly.
Motorola is hoping that the Moto G will revive its fortunes on these shores. At those prices, it has every chance of success.
