Apple certainly seems to think so, with the news that firm is looking to patent iOS software that will allow iPhone users to track friends and family in real-time.
The Cupertino tech giant has applied for two patents - one for location sharing and one for geofencing technology - which could make it almost impossible for your parents, siblings or best mates to give you the swerve.
According to AppleInsider, advances in 'customised location notification' technology may soon allow two consenting iPhones to exchange detailed positioning data.
Theoretically, location updates could be delivered using an iOS app, or even via a text, email or call, should this be the iPhone user's preference.
Potential uses for the technology could be to find out where someone is in relation to a meeting point, and how long it will take them to arrive.
Although this may remove the mystery element from future rendezvous, it will alleviate the frustration when someone goes AWOL and won't pick up their phone.
Apple's second patent application, for 'indoor remote triggered location scanning', relates to technology designed to track iOS users within buildings.
This would be reliant upon the positioning of wireless transceivers - or nodes - at known indoor locations, within shopping centres, workplaces, public buildings and more.
The fixed nodes would locate an individual to a rough area, before their iPhone or iPad - acting as a secondary node - fine-tunes the positioning information.
Having filed the two applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office, Apple now faces a nervous wait to see whether it receives intellectual property rights to its designs.
Given the firm's obvious interest in location tools, we fully expect it to monitor the submissions all the way through the process, right up to approval or rejection.
Current tracking data suggests the applications are sat stationary in a large pile of paperwork, on someone's desk, in someone's office.
