Samsung will launch the next generation Galaxy S8 smartphone in late February 2017, reports suggest, ahead of the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in Barcelona.
Keen Samsung-watcher @Ricciolo1, who successfully predicted the launch dates of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 7, says the new handset will be unveiled on February 26th.
It’s believed that the phone will be equipped with a 4K screen and a dual lens camera aimed at taking on Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus.
Word is that Samsung will play up the Galaxy S8’s ability to take first-rate images in low light.
It’s likely Samsung will launch a curved screen Galaxy S8 Edge at the same time.
Previous reports suggested the Korean firm would also reveal new, bendable smartphones at next year’s MWC.
Samsung will be hoping that interest in the Galaxy S8 will not be affected by the ongoing battery problems surrounding its Galaxy Note 7.
That handset has been permanently discontinued just two months after launch, following reports of exploding devices and the company’s global exchange programme failing to provide users with safe, new models.
