Eclipse Internet subscribers are being invited to vote for which telephone exchanges they would like to see upgraded for next-generation broadband.

BT, which sells wholesale broadband services to the internet service provider, has asked Eclipse to nominate five locations, but it has passed this decision on to its subscribers.

Voting is to remain open until 17:00 GMT on Friday November 12th, when the final results will be passed on to BT.

Clodagh Murphy, Director at Eclipse Internet commented: "We're delighted to be given this opportunity and rather than us selecting five exchanges for nomination, we felt our customers and potential customers should be the ones to decide by voting.

"We currently offer two fibre broadband products and last month we increased the usage limits following feedback from our customers, meaning that they benefit from at least double their original usage. We listened to our customers then and we want them to be part of this decision."

Eclipse had earlier launched voting on Facebook and Twitter, with 1,300 location selections made on the social networking websites since last week.

Last month, BT launched its Race to Infinity, which gives consumers the opportunity to demonstrate demand in their area for high-speed broadband services.
