iphone 6 dummy video still

The iPhone 6 is shaping up to be a doozy, with a reversible Lightning cable and a bigger screen optimised for one-handed use. But there's one spec that might not change a bit: the RAM.

According to a leaked schematic from Chinese Apple repair firm Geekbar, the iPhone 6 will have just 1GB of RAM. That's the same amount as the iPhone 5, 5S and 5C.

It'd also be a lot less than Apple's Android rivals.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4, for example, is rumoured to have 4GB of RAM, which would be a first for an Android device.

Even the Galaxy Note 3 has 3GB. And that's almost a year old.

Apple doesn't advertise how much RAM its phones and tablets have, presumably because it doesn't consider it as important as other specs.

iOS is also more efficient than Android, so can deliver very good performance with lower RAM.

The iPhone 5S and 5C don't seem sluggish in any way, and that's what Apple is focussing on: the user experience.

This spec could also be for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. The 5.5-incher could well have more power at its disposal.

Still, if true, it'll be another weapon in the Android fanboys' arsenal when they feel like gloating over their iPhone-owning rivals.
