Fibre optic broadband will be up and running in Hull by July, thanks to MS3 Communications.

The company recently launched its next-generation fibre optic network at the city's Village Hotel, offering an alternative to the broadband packages offered by KC, currently Hull's only broadband supplier, reports the Hull Daily Mail.

It has so far commissioned contractors to lay fibre optic cables connecting some 12,000 homes to the network over the next two months and aims to have cables running from Barton-upon-Humber to Priory Park by the end of August with further areas added to the network towards the end of the year.

Dave Thompson, MS3 Head of Connectivity, told the local newspaper: "The fibre network we're putting in the ground is the highest quality you can get."

According to MS3, the initial network will cover 50km while the second stage will cover 116km.

In total, £3.5 million has been invested in the project.
