Consumers in Hull are being given the opportunity to experience the UK's fastest commercial broadband service, it has been reported.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, incumbent broadband provider KC is offering download speeds of up to 350Mb in a new public trial.

Around a thousand households in the Kingswood area of the city can sign up for the Lightstream 350 broadband package, which is priced at £99 per month.

Nick Thompson, Director of Consumer Markets at KC, said the company has had "a great response" from customers in Beverley and other parts of East Yorkshire where 100Mb speeds have been trialled.

"We're expecting even more interest from our customers in Kingswood, where broadband usage is among the highest in the area," he told the news provider.

"During 2012 we will be passing 15,000 homes and businesses with our lightning-fast fibre broadband service."

Mr Thompson said the internet has become "a key part of people's everyday lives", adding that usage levels are only set to increase in the future.

"That's why we want our customers to have the best connected homes and businesses in the UK and why we've launched the UK's fastest broadband service," he added.
