Sony Ericsson launches online World Cup ad campaign

A number of high-profile personalities have been signed up to help promote Sony Ericsson via a campaign being run on social networking sites with a World Cup 2010 theme.

Comedians including Frank Skinner, David Baddiel and James Corden will be blogging and posting podcasts from the tournament in South Africa on the Sony Ericsson Facebook page, with support from a stream of tweets on Twitter.

Sony Ericsson is one of the World Cup 2010 sponsors and another of its initiatives that also involves Twitter is the Twitter Cup, which will create a visual interpretation of global tweets which are related to the teams, players and managers involved in the tournament.

Avid tweeters can win a brand new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 every day there is an England game by using the hashtag #TWC followed by the name of the nation that they are supporting.

Sony Ericsson ran a competition in conjunction with Absolute Radio back in April and the winner is also getting involved in the coverage by using the high definition capabilities of the Sony Ericsson Vivaz to report on the tournament.
