Sony has dismissed speculation that a PSP branded mobile phone will land this year, after a fresh rumours over its plans surfaced earlier this month.
The fabled handset has been one the longest tropes in the smartphone world, but seemed to have dissipated until Engadget reported that Sony Ericsson is currently working on a PSP branded mobile and that it will run Google’s Android operating system.
However, any hopes of what promises to be a consummate gaming device-cum-ace-Android-smartie arriving any time soon have been dashed by Peter Dille, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Sony’s US division.
In a new interview, Mr Dille stated that there would “no new mobile launches this year”.
