The Sony Xperia U will be available to pick up on Three, T-Mobile and Orange when it launches in the UK, the networks have confirmed.
Unveiled at this week’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), the Xperia U is one of Sony’s first branded handsets of the year following its acquisition of the joint venture business from Ericsson.
Three, Orange and T-Mobile will be be ranging the Xperia U on an array of contracts, although details for these have yet to be revealed.
With a spec sheet that includes a 1GHz dual core processor, a 3.5-inch Reality Display touchscreen with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, a five-megapixel 3D-capable camera and 16GB of internal storage, the Xperia looks set to be serious challenger for the mid-range market against efforts from Samsung and HTC.
The Xperia U is joined by two higher-end kits from Sony, the Xperia P - also announced at MWC - and the Xperia S, due hit store shelves in March.
No firm release date has been revealed yet, but according to our T-Mobile source it’s expected to land sometime in the second quarter. So keep ‘em peeled more details soon.
