O2 has secured exclusive rights to sell the purple edition of the Sony Xperia Z in the UK, it has announced, ahead of the phone’s release next month.
The carrier will also be selling the standard – and much less arresting - black edition of Sony’s latest Android contender on monthly contracts from February, a handset page on the carrier's site suggests. Assuming that’s correct, it's a little bit earlier than we’d initially been led to believe, with early reports indicating the Xperia Z wasn't landing until March.
Arguably the best-received Sony phone for some time, the Xperia Z’s spec sheet that takes in a full HD, five-inch screen with the gadget-maker's exclusive Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology and resolution of 1080x1920, as well as a quad-core 1.5GHz processor.
Powered by Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box, the phone is also dust and water-resistant.
Vodafone and Three will also be carrying the none-more-black edition of the Xperia Z from launch, as will Phones4U.
