Sony’s much–hyped Sirius smartphone, believed to be launching as the Xperia Z2 at next month’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), has appeared in a string of new spy shots.
The hands-on images show a device that is broadly similar to last autumn’s Xperia Z1. Key changes include a slightly slimmer bezel, a new mic to replace the grille at the bottom of the older phone and a tweaked user interface.
Word is that the Sirius, or Z2, will use the same 20.7-megapixel camera as last year’s flagship, as well as a Snapdragon processor. The screen is expected to make the jump to 5.2 megapixels.
Sony’s apparent decision to launch the Z2 at MWC comes as something of a surprise after it showed off its new Z1 Compact just two weeks ago at CES in Las Vegas. Last year it revealed its flagship devices in February and September.
