A free, wireless speaker is up for grabs with the Sony Xperia Z2 on Vodafone, as the carrier gives the flagship phone a leg-up after delays hampered its chances of unseating Apple and Samsung at the top of the smartphone market.
Unveiled to rave reviews at Mobile World Congress back in February, the Z2’s path to market was blocked by untimely manufacturing glitches. The result was that it didn’t capitalise as much on its good press as it should’ve.
And so we come to Vodafone’s promotion/sweetener.
Under the terms of the giveaway, all customers who sign up for the Z2 on a 3G or 4G contract quality for a free Sony Wireless Speaker SRS-BTV5.
Voda is offering the handset on 3G contracts starting from £43.50 over two years with a free Z2 and monthly allowances of 2GB of data per month and unlimited texts and calls.
If you want 4G and no upfront charge, you’re looking at a minimum outlay of £48.50. Here the allowances are 7GB of mobile internet usage per month, plus unlimited calls and texts.
As well as being water and dust-resistant, the Xperia Z2’s major ‘sells’ take in a 20.7-megapixel camera and 4K video recording.
Powered by the latest KitKat version of Android and sporting a frame that’s 0.3mm thinner than the S1, it’s also home to Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 16GB of on-board storage and a long-life battery.
