A new leak has shown off Google’s new Pixel smartphone in the clearest detail yet, less than a week before the device is due to get its official unveiling.
The picture clearly shows Google’s plans for its new, streamlined design of Android. The Pixel is expected to feature an amped up version of the company’s operating system, which puts its Assistant tool front and centre.
The design is not expected to be seen on devices made by its manufacturing partners, as Google looks to lead the way with its own software and bolster sales of its in–house devices.
The new home screen features an improved Google search bar and redesigned dock for fast access to key apps.
The Pixel is set to feature a five–inch HD screen, with 32GB storage space, quad core processor, USB–C charging, a rear–mounted fingerprint scanner and a 12 megapixel rear camera. Its larger Pixel XL stablemate is set to feature a 5.5–inch display and the same internal smarts. Both are being made by HTC on behalf of Google.
Google will unveil both handsets at a special event on October 4th.
