After making headlines last week by saying that it would not be creating a VoIP app for the upcoming Windows Phone 7 platform, Skype has commented further on the matter but confirmed little in detail.
A statement from Skype read: "We explore rigorously opportunities presented by new mobile platforms and Windows Mobile 7 is no exception. However, we don't discuss future platform developments and have no further information to offer at this time."
"In February, we withdrew our Skype Lite and Skype for Windows Phones apps because they didn't offer the experience our customers had come to expect."
Despite the lack of any obvious commitment to Windows Phone 7, this statement, made to Tech Radar, will not necessarily preclude a Skype launch on Microsoft's next mobile operating system.
It is clear that Skype has not had a completely smooth ride with Microsoft products in the past, but given the significance of Windows Phone 7, there could be a lot riding on its presence on the platform.
