Confusion surrounds the UK availability of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, amid a profusion of projected due dates at online retail sites.
Earlier this month, Samsung officially confirmed that the phone would drop on November 17th – a day after Nokia’s flagship challenger the Lumia 800.
However, retailers across the web either didn’t get that memo, or know something very different.
The phone is today listed on Amazon with a release date of December 2nd when bought SIM free and sans contract. Meanwhile, Expansys expects to be shipping the Galaxy Nexus from December 1st – also SIM free.
A delay in availability would be a real sop for the Nokia’s first-ever Windows Mango phone, the Lumia 800, as it battles for marketshare, mindshare and tech press column inches in the crucial Christmas market.
Unveiled within weeks of Nokia’s challenger, the Galaxy Nexus is the first phone ever to run the latest Ice Cream Sandwich version of Google’s Android operating system and features a spec sheet that takes in a 4.65-inch AMOLED HD display, a lag-free five megapixel camera and a brawny 1.2GHz dual core processor.
