Nexus S Android Ice Cream Sandwich update landing soon

Android Ice Cream Sandwich will be arriving soon on the Google Nexus S, an anonymous tipster abreast of developments has revealed.

Citing one of its ‘trusted sources’, Engadget is reporting that the latest OS revamp is “expected to drop in the next few weeks” and for real this time, after a roll out had initially started in December before abruptly being put on hold to monitor feedback.

Well, if you place stock in unverifiable tip-offs, Android 4.0 should become available to Nexus S owners starting next month, bringing with it a range of improvements and enhancements to the platform.

Among these are a refreshed UI, the new Chrome mobile browser, updated versions of the mail and calendar apps, plus an all-round smoother, faster user experience.

There’s also new features such as Android Beam, which uses NFC to exchange data with other phones by simply bumping them together, and Face Unlock that utilises face detection technology to verify the handset owner’s identity.
