Google is working on two new Pixel phones for release later this year, one a successor to its current Pixel and the other a stripped back, budget model.
Details of both phones have been revealed by sources close to Google. The top–end Pixel 2 is said to come with waterproofing smarts to match rivals from Samsung and Apple, as well as a faster processor.
Google is also rumoured to be working on improving the Pixel 2’s camera, with the same insider saying the device will be designed to work well in low light conditions. Last year’s Pixel and Pixel XL were heralded for their superb cameras.
The budget Pixel device is codenamed Pixel 2B. While no specific specs are known, the handset is likely to come with less powerful hardware so that Google can offer the phone at a lower cost.
Google is not due to reveal its new Pixel phones until the end of 2017.
