Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus to get UK release

Palm has said that it is definitely bringing the two updated 'Plus' versions of its Pre and Pixi smartphones to the UK.

An O2 spokesperson and Palm's UK offices have confirmed this as fact, which means that the Pixi will be finally arriving here after months of absence.

O2 has begun to advertise the Pixi with an extensive campaign in Germany and many rumours had circulated as to its potential arrival in the UK. Now the speculation can come to an end.

Thus far, details as to the pricing and the availability of the Pre and Pixi Plus have not been announced, but it is believed that they could hit shelves in late April or early May, so the wait should not be long.

The Pixi Plus runs the same webOS operating system as the Pre, but has a smaller screen and a full QWERTY keypad that sits below it in the portrait BlackBerry style.

    Months and months after the US gets these phones, we're only just about to. Not hard to see why Palm is struggling. Six months is a long time in smartphones.

    Reality check.
    The Palm Pre and Pixi Plus were only announced in Jan 2010 With the launch date being the very end of Jan. If my knowledge of the calendar is right then that will make it three months not six. That is a massive difference.

    This is rubbish. I only last month got the Palm Pre and now it's finally announced the Palm Pre Plus is coming!

    @Mark D, Yes it was indeed a January release. But alas 3 months is also quite a long time in the smartphone world. I shall nonetheless be picking a Pixi Plus up upon its UK release.

    More to the point, why restrict UK users to O2? It's ridiculous that Palm lovers have to wait over a year after the phone comes to the UK to get it on any network. Again, it's no wonder they are struggling.

    @Deus Maybe research your phones next time before you buy? I saw the Pre in O2 shop in Feb and went home, researched it, found out about the Plus and decided to wait.

    @Jenny I seem to recall that the iPhone came out exclusively on the O2 network. I don't see Apple struggling.
