The Nokia N9 is set to become Espoo’s smartest and fastest handset yet, with a powerful processor to make even the almighty iPhone 4 look a bit silly.
Fresh hardware specs of the successor to the N8, which got a lukewarm reception from critics but is a huge hit with fans nonetheless, have been unearthed by the tech diggers at Engadget. And they should get the Nokians drooling like a fat kid in a candy shop.
In addition to a slide-out QWERTY keyboard unveiled in the leaked images we revealed way back in August last year, Finnish blog Prosessori also claims that the N9 will pack a 1.2GHz Atom processor for brisk multitasking and a 12-megapixel camera onboard for happy snapping even while you’re being chased by evil bankers.
Unfortunately, no word yet if the N9 will run on the Meego operating system, the hotly awaited heir to Symbian’s crown. Nokia has been schtum about the OS and keeping its plans under wrap but we should more regarding that soon.
The N9 is expected to be showcased at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month, where newly instated Nokia CEO Stephen Elop is due give a keynote speech on Wednesday 16th February. Watch this space for more deets as we get them.
