Angry Birds is about to get a Star Wars rerub, as two of entertainment’s biggest brands join forces for what promises to be a casual gaming hit so big you’ll be able to see it from space.
Yoda famously warned a callow, stroppy Luke Skywalker that anger leads inexorably and inevitably to suffering and the Dark Side. But a teaser ad for a new Angry Birds game suggests that’s not stopped George Lucas from welcoming the famously irate avians into the Star Wars universe.
Posted on the Angry Birds Twitter account and Tumblr blog, the none-too-cryptic trailer depicts what appear to be one of our birdy friends clad in the kind of floaty brown cowl that could only belong to a Jedi set against a suitably moody backdrop. Oh, and in case there was any shred of doubt about what all this means, a lightsaber is present and correct too.
Other than that there’s little to go on, so predicting what Rovio has done with the Star Wars licence would, alas, be pure speculation. However, we won’t have too long to find out: the games-maker's ad promises the next instalment of its title will land on October 8th.
