Nokia’s Windows Phone-powered smartphones are being bundled with Netflix subscriptions, after the phone-maker struck a deal with the online video streaming service.
Under the terms of the agreement, Nokia handsets, including the flagship Lumia 1020, the Lumia 925 and the low-cost Lumia 625, will include a free subscription to Netflix when bought from select retailers and carriers.
Participating partners in the Finnish company's pre-Christmas sales drive include Vodafone and Phones4U.
What sounds like might be the pick of the Netflix-flavoured deals is available directly from Vodafone. This includes a 12-month subscription to the service when customers sign up for the 41-megapixel camera-toting Lumia 1020 at £42 per month.
As well as a free phone, Vodafone’s promotion includes 2GB of data per month, plus unlimited calls and texts for the duration of the 24-month contract.
Phones4U is bundling Netflix with the Lumia 1020 when bought on Vodafone as well, but with a six-month subscription. This is also being used as a sweetener with the Lumia 925 and 625.
News of a big promotional push for the Nokia Lumia range comes amid speculation that the phone-maker will unveil a larger, phablet-sized model on October 22nd.
The due date sets up a battle for column inches and press coverage with the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5, both of which are set to be unveiled on the same day.
