Microsoft’s selfie smartphone, codenamed Superman, has been talked up for some time as the company’s first in–house Lumia device. And now it’s been snapped well ahead of its official release.
Superman, which is expected to rebranded as the more formal-sounding Lumia 730 by the time it hits retail, looks just like your average Nokia Lumia phone.
However, word is it’ll come with a five-megapixel camera up front, perfect for those with an Instagram addiction and a slightly narcissistic bent.
There are few other details about the handset’s hardware specs. But rumours indicate it'll pack a 4.7–inch display, presumably with Nokia's PureBlack screen tech.
Interestingly though, the leak does show the phone running Debian Red, the Big M’s name for its forthcoming Windows Phone 8.1 update.
That could mean this mid–range effort will be among the first phones to use this latest edition of the operating system.
An official launch date is unclear, but expect Microsoft to pull the trigger in autumn, around the same time as a slew of new Android phones and the iPhone 6 get their unveiling.
