EE scooped the uSwitch award for the fastest mobile network of 2016, as it continues to reap the rewards of substantial investment in its 4G network.
In a first for the uSwitch Awards, this year’s gong was determined by data from the leading independent mobile analytics company RootMetrics.
EE’s win, which it can now add to the award for Best Network Coverage, comes after it committed last year to investing £1.5 billion in its network over three years.
As well as standard 4G, EE offers a 4G+ service that features headline speeds of up to 90Mbps. However, this is currently solely available in select locations in London.
EE's uSwitch award coincides with RootMetrics latest report into the state of the UK’s mobile market.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given that its full-year showing was strong enough to seal the top spot, EE was also found to be fastest UK network over the second half of 2016. Vodafone, Three and O2 were in second, third and fourth place respectively.
In Rootmetrics' best network overall category, EE came top too. Three took second, while Vodafone and O2 brought up the rear.
