How to transfer your number from EE to FreedomPop?

  1. 1) Check you're eligible to switch from EE

    If you're out of contract with EE, you can switch for no charge whenever you like.

    Not sure if you're out of contract? To find out, you can call 150 from your EE phone to speak to customer support. Or on 07953 966 250 from any other phone (standard network charges apply).

    Opening hours are 8am-8pm Monday-Friday. 8am-6pm at weekends.

    Don't fancy phoning? Log in to your EE account online instead.

    Keeping your old phone and signing up for a new SIM-only deal with a new network? Okay, that means there’s a chance you may need to get your phone unlocked.

    The good news is that this is very simple. Just head to EE’s site where you’ll find a form to fill in to unlock your smartphone.

    Once that’s done, they’ll provide you with a personal unlocking key (PUK) that you can use to unlock your handset.

  2. 2) Contact EE to cancel your contract and get your PAC code

    Once you’ve found a new deal and signed up, your next task is to ring EE and tell them you want to leave. They’ll give you a contract end date that you should make a note of.

    While you’re on the phone to them, you also need to ask for a PAC Code. It’s this short alphanumeric code that will enable you to transfer your existing phone number to the network you want to join. EE is bound by law to provide a PAC Code within two hours of you asking for it.

  3. 3) Find and buy a SIM from FreedomPop

    Checked you’re out of contract and ready to switch? Your next job is to select and sign up for a FreedomPop SIM-only deal through uSwitch.

    FreedomPop will carry out credit checks. After which point, you’ll receive your SIM in the post.

  4. 4) Contact FreedomPop to give them your PAC Code

    The next item on the agenda is to get in touch with FreedomPop and give them your PAC Code to start the process of transferring your number.

    Get in touch with FreedomPop’s customer support team on 0113 887 0823. Opening hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. The call centre is closed at weekends.

  5. 5) Insert the FreedomPop SIM in your phone

    Open up your phone’s SIM tray using a pin-key. Then insert your FreedomPop SIM.

    As you might expect, your number won’t have been transferred straightaway. But while you’re waiting for the transfer to be completed, you’ll be given a temporary number to use.

    So you’ll still be able to use your phone.

  6. 6) Wait for your number to be transferred to FreedomPop

    In general, number transfers are done and dusted the next working day. However, this varies from network to network and it could take a bit longer if a weekend gets in the way.
