How to transfer your number from Sky Mobile to O2?

Read more about O2
  1. 1) Check you’re eligible to switch from Sky Mobile

Assuming you’re out of contract, you’re free to switch from Sky Mobile any time you like and it won’t cost you anything.

Not sure if you’re still under contract? You can find out by contacting Sky Mobile's customer support team on 03300 412 524 from your Sky Mobile phone. Or on 03300 412 524 from any other phone (standard network charges apply).

The support team’s working hours are 8.30am-11pm every day.

If you’d prefer not to call, you can also find out your contract end date by logging in to your Sky Mobile account, or by opening up the Sky Mobile app on your phone.

And if you’re interested in switching but want a bit more information first, text INFO to 85075.

  2. 2) Contact Sky Mobile to tell them you want to leave and get your PAC Code

Next item on the agenda is to get in touch with Sky Mobile to tell them you’d like to leave. To do this, just text PAC to 65075 to get your PAC code. It’s this short, alphanumeric code that will enable you to transfer your existing phone number to the network you want to join. You don't even need to make a phone call.

If you'd prefer to speak to somebody, just ring Sky Mobile on one of the numbers in step 1, tell them you want to leave and ask for your PAC Code.

It’s a legal requirement that networks provide you with your PAC Code within two hours of your request.

Once you’ve got your PAC Code, you’ll have 30 days to use. Thereafter it expires. So if you haven’t used it within this timeframe, you’ll need to contact Sky Mobile to get a new one.

  3. 3) Find and buy a new deal from O2

Your next task is to choose and sign up for a new deal contract from O2. Once you’ve passed O2's credit checks, you’ll receive your phone or SIM card in the post.

  4. 4) Contact O2 to give them your PAC code

Now you’ll just to ring O2 to give them your PAC. You can get in touch with O2's customer support team on 034 4809 0202 from a landline (standard network rates apply).

  5. 5) Insert your new SIM card from O2

If you got a new phone, use your pin-key to unlock the handset's SIM tray. Then insert your O2 SIM.

If you went for a SIM-only deal, you can just put the O2 SIM in your existing phone.

While your number is being transferred, you'll be supplied with a temporary number to use. So you can still make and take calls and do whatever you'd normally do on your phone.

  6. 6) Wait for your number to be transferred from O2

The transfer should be complete the next working day. But this varies depending on the network you're joining.

The transfer could also take a little bit longer if a weekend or Bank Holiday gets in the way.
