1) Check you’re eligible to switch from BT Mobile
If you’re out of contract you can switch from BT Mobile when you like and it won’t cost you anything to leave.
If you’re not sure if you’re still under contract, you can find out in a number of ways.
One option is to contact BT Mobile customer support on 150 from your mobile phone. Or by calling 0800 800 150 from any other phone (standard network rates apply).
Opening hours are 8am-8pm Monday-Friday and 9am-6pm Saturday and Sunday.
Alternatively, you can find your contract end date by opening the BT Mobile app on your phone. Or by logging in to your BT Mobile account.
And if you’re interested in switching but want a bit more information first, text INFO to 85075.
2) Contact BT Mobile to tell them you want to leave and get a PAC Code
Now’s the time to contact BT Mobile to tell them you’d like to leave. To do this, just text PAC to 65075 to get your PAC code. It’s this short, alphanumeric code that will enable you to transfer your existing phone number to the network you want to join.
If you'd prefer to speak to someone, just give BT Mobile a call. You'll find contact numbers and opening hours for customer support in step 1.
It’s a legal requirement that networks provide you with your PAC Code within two hours of your request. When you’ve got it, it’s clever to make a note of it. Just in case.
What’s most important to note, though, is that PAC Codes expire after 30 days. So if you haven’t used yours within this timeframe, you’ll need to get in touch with BT Mobile again to request a new one.
3) Find and buy a deal from Virgin Mobile
This is the fun bit. All you need to do is choose a deal from Virgin Mobile and sign up for it through uSwitch.
As you’re probably aware, Virgin Mobile will then conduct some credit checks. After which point, you’ll receive your phone in the post.
4) Contact Virgin Mobile to give them your PAC code
Next up, you’ll need to get in touch with Virgin Mobile to give them your PAC Code. You can do this

5) Insert your Virgin Mobile SIM
Opted to get a new phone? Okay, you can now use the pin/key in the box to open the SIM tray and insert your Virgin Mobile SIM card.
Plumped for a Virgin Mobile SIM only deal instead? You'll just need to put the SIM in your current phone.
Your phone number won’t be transferred straightaway. But you’ll have a temporary number to use in the interim. So you can still use your phone.
6) Wait for your number to be transferred to Virgin Mobile
Unless a weekend gets in the way, your number transfer should be complete the next working day. And then you’re good to go.
