The Palm Pre – touted by many as a potential challenger to the hugely successful iPhone 3G S - will not be granted an early release, despite reports to the contrary.
Technology websites had posited that the Pre would be officially launched on Tuesday at the Playbite gadgets expo.
A spokesperson for the US company has since told V3 that there is no truth in the rumour but refused to give an exact date for the release of the handset.
Prior to the official denial from Palm, the consensus among mobile industry experts was that the mobile phone would appear on October 30th.
Exclusive to O2 in the UK, the Palm Pre is touchscreen operated and boasts a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
Other stand out features of the forthcoming mobile phone include a changeable battery to allow more flexible usage and 8GB of internal storage space.
