Nokia 7705 Twist: the shape of mobiles to come?

Nokia has unveiled a mobile phone that boasts a radical new form factor with a swivel design.

The Nokia 7705 Twist is cast in a unique square shape that swivels open to reveal a full QWERTY keypad located behind the screen.

As well as boasting a dramatically different look to rival manufacturers’ handsets, the Nokia Twist features a three megapixel camera with video recording, email and a music player.

To allow users to make the most of the phone, Nokia has provided 256MB of internal memory which can be expanded by adding a microSD card.

Nokia has yet to announce a UK release for the Twist, but it is set to go on sale in the US this month on the Verizon Wireless network.

The appearance of the new mobile phone comes days after the unveiling of the Nokia X6, which features a similarly eye-catching angular design.

Mobile fans’ responses to the new design approach from Nokia have been overwhelmingly positive, with many predicting that it will help the company mount a more effective challenge to Apple iPhones.
