Spotify plans to partner with more UK mobile phone networks in months to come, after this week announcing a deal with 3 to package the HTC Hero with bundled access to the music streaming service.
Yesterday, 3 confirmed that it will be selling the Hero on a landmark contract plan from next month, whereby buyers get unlimited access to Spotify Premium and 750 minutes of calls to other mobiles per month for a monthly charge of £35.
According to a spokesperson for Spotify, this is likely to be the first in a series of such partnerships as the company looks to improve take-up for its services.
He told Tech Radar: "From Spotify's perspective, the deal will give us excellent exposure among 3's mobile user base and its 400-plus stores across the UK, help drive the number of Spotify Premium subscribers, as well as give music fans in search of a deal an even bigger reason to try us out.
"As for other deals - we're always looking to partner up with great companies but nothing to report on that front."
3’s Spotify HTC Hero offering will also allow users unlimited texts and calls to other 3 numbers, unlimited email, internet browsing and Facebook and free Skype to Skype calls.
