Sources linked to Sony Ericsson have indicated that the firm may well be looking to launch the Kurara in the UK at some point in April 2010.
The Kurara will supplant the Sony Ericsson Satio, which focused on digital photography with its 12 megapixel camera, and will apparently feature video recording in high definition.
The Symbian operating system will be used to power the Kurara and as with the Satio it will utilise a touch sensitive interface. Its digital camera will be scaled down to use an eight megapixel sensor, although with the output for streaming HD video, the Kurara will not be short on audiovisual capabilities.
The Kurara will be joined shortly by a slightly more versatile companion called the Kanna, which will feature a full QWERTY keypad to compliment the touch screen.
The Kanna, which will also be known as the U8i, will also support HD video recording if the current rumours are to be believed. Official details about its new line up of smartphones are expected to be made public during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, when Sony Ericsson will launch the Xperia X10 as well as the Kurara and the Kanna.
