Last year Nokia announced it was closing its N-Gage dedicated mobile gaming service after it failed to find support among customers. The decision to drop N-Gage was interpreted as an admission that Nokia had given up on its drive to interest owners of its handsets in playing games.
Conversely, games at Apple’s App Store have proved among the most popular wares on sale at the software market, with titles such as Rolando garnering hundreds of thousands of sales.
However, according to Recombu, its specially created concept phone, the Ovi Orion, could change the company’s fortunes were Nokia ever to put a mobile along these lines into production.
Dubbed “a serious games machine for serious gamers’, the Ovi Orion features an expansive screen for the optimum gaming experience as well as a physical control pad and Sony PSP quality graphics. The handset is also home to an innovative back-mounted QWERTY keypad.
Gamers with Nokia smartphones can now buy titles at the company’s official Ovi application store, along with an array of more practical software.
